Make a file or a three-ring binder for all important house papers which should include operating instructions, warranties and pertinent phone numbers.

Obtain all keys and electric door openers, including keys for gas fireplaces.  Try to make sure they work.  After workmen have completed their jobs, change the locks.

Review all previous notes, checklists and the Inspection Report prior to the walk through and bring them.

Open and close all doors and windows; inventory screen and storms for property fit and condition.

Run hot and cold water in all sinks, tubs and showers.  Flush all toilets.

Run all appliances including burners, stoves, ice makers, dishwasher, washers, dryers, microwaves, etc.

Bring light bulbs to install and test all fixtures.

Run the furnace to make sure it responds to controls.

Run the air conditioner if the outside temperature is cooler than 65 degrees outside.
